Leprechaun 3 (1995) Review

The Leprechaun 3 is in some ways superior than the Leprechaun 1 and 2, while in other ways it is inferior.

Its success may be attributed to the fact that it has a horrible first act that is nevertheless enjoyable. Mark Jones, with the exception of the Leprechaun, is incapable of writing believable dialogue.

Scott McCoy, played by John Gatins, had some of the worst lines ever written for a college student, and I really felt horrible for him. Almost no one could sit through it.

In the midst of Act 2, the narrative takes a surprising turn when Leprechaun 3 Scott contracts the sickness spread by the leprechaun's blood. After that, though, the audience is in for nothing but a good time.

Finally, Warwick Davis gets to use rhyme, and it makes for a fun second act.

Davis is truly the driving force behind these movies, and if he weren't in them, they wouldn't be enjoyable at all. The Leprechaun have a devastating appeal that is just plain entertaining to behold when he is around him.
